Browse the extensive collection at the city's second-largest art museum, the Brooklyn Museum. The permanent collection is comprised of over one-and-a-half million objects, showcasing culturally diverse works from ancient Egyptian masterpieces to contemporary arts, 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th century paintings and sculptures. Stroll through the gardens of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden to see over 10,000 species of plant life thriving in the city. The BBG sprawls over 52 acres near the Prospect Heights, Crown Heights and Park Slope neighborhoods. The garden is occupied by the Steinhardt Conservatory where the C.V. Starr Bonsai Museum is located. The conservatory features three climate-themed plant pavilions, a white cast-iron and glass aquatic plant house and an art gallery. The society's collection is comprised of over 800,000 objects from a variety of cultures and time periods. The ANS has a permanent exhibit featured at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York called Drachmas Doubloons and Dollars: The History of Money. The American Numismatic Society is the foremost institution of its kind in the nation.
