Celebrate our everyday heroes at the New York City Fire Museum. This museum details the history of firefighting and houses one of the nation's most important collections of fire-related art and artifacts. The museum is located in a renovated fire house that has been around since 1904. Painted leather buckets, helmets, parade hats and belts, lanterns and tools, pre-Civil War hand pumped fire engines, horse drawn vehicles and early motorized devices are a few items in the museum's collection.

Check out one of the most winning teams in professional sports, period. The New Jersey Devils have gone 18 straight seasons over .500 – this is the longest streak of its kind by any team in any of the four major sports: football, baseball, basketball and hockey. Records like this mean you know you're in for some hard-hitting sports action at one of these games.

Spend some time as a family, hanging out in Manhattan's Bryant Park. There's lots to do here, like strolling through the various gardens, observing the number of sculptures located in the park, letting the kids take a ride on Le Carrousel, ice skating on Citi Pond during the winter, playing chess, checkers and backgammon near the Fountain Terrace, or dining at one of the many on-site eateries. A day of family fun at Bryant Park is one of the best ways to unwind together in NYC.

Take the time to pay your respects to our military by visiting the New York City Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plaza. The memorial features Honor Plaques, a Reflecting Fountain, a Memorial Wall featuring letters from soldiers, and the Walk of Honor, etched with all 1,741 names of those who were killed in Vietnam.
