The Queens Historical Society was founded in 1968 and is the only museum about Queens' history within the borough. The society's main project is the preservation of history and designation of the borough's landmarks. Through educational programs, exhibitions, lectures, newsletters and presentations relating to Queens, the society covers all chapters of the borough's history for its community and visitors.
Central Park is one of New York City's best known landmarks, so visiting here with your family should be a shoe-in on your list of attractions to see. The park is home to several man-made lakes and ponds, walking and recreation trails, two ice-skating rinks, a wildlife sanctuary and many other natural amenities. Other must-see sights you can experience as a family include The Belvedere Castle, the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre, and the Central Park Zoo.
Another of New York City's world-famous entertainment venues, Radio City Music Hall has been a city landmark since the 1930s. The hall has hosted events like the Grammy Awards, Tony Awards and the MTV Music Awards, among many others. The venue has been the home of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular for over 70 years and continues to be one of the city's most popular tourist attractions. Talented musicians like Pink Floyd, David Bowie, The Beach Boys, Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan have graced the stage at the hall. No trip to NYC is complete without a visit to Radio City Music Hall.
Get an up-close look at the Brooklyn Bridge while you hang out at the 85-acre, waterfront Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. The park stretches across the waterfront in the vicinity of the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges on land that was overlooked and inaccessible for decades. Although the park is still under construction, the Pier 1 and Pier 6 sections are open to the public – meaning you can enjoy beautiful views of the city right next to the bridge. The park is set to be 66% completed by 2013.
