Welcome in the spring with the quaint and charming Appalachian Festival, a three-day music and crafts festivals on Coney Island. Begun almost a decade ago in the basement of the Cincinnati Music Hall, this annual festival has grown into the Cincinnati Junior League’s biggest event, drawing in more than 130 crafters, dozens of entertainers and nearly 50,000 people!
The largest park in Cincy, Mount Airy Forest offers visitors an impressive 1,471 acres of natural and planned landscapes to explore at their leisure. Walk through miles of scenic hiking and recreational trails or even bring out a horse for the bridle trails off Diehl Road. Sneak in a bit more walking when you wander through the giant public treehouse.
Come spend some time at the beautiful Fountain Square, a park with a rich Cincinnati heritage. Since 1871, this fountain square has played a key role in the center of the city’s civic, social and commercial life. Discover the gorgeous Tyler Davidson Fountain in the middle, surrounded by trees, a pavilion and music stage, a tranquil water wall and a seasonal ice rink.
Celebrate the history of the abolitionist movement at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. Dedicated to the efforts of black and white Americans who fought to end slavery, this unique museum educates the public about the horrors of slavery and the struggle for civil rights while honoring those who found freedom and those who lost their lives searching for it.
