Temperatures hit historic highs in August and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says to expect more record heat through the rest of 2019. In Ohio, the average summer temperature for June, July, and August was 72.1 degrees Fahrenheit, or 1.1 degrees above average.

At least three members of the Columbus band Viento Alegre Cheerful Wind were among the 7 victims of a mass overdose early Sunday in Pittsburgh. One member, Rubiel Clemente Martinez, was found dead and at least two others were hospitalized.

Though the council didnt act on that, it did approve 5-2 a controversial residential development on former quarry property that was zoned industrial.

Federal judge allows transgender birth certificate lawsuit to proceed

Four transgender individuals who sued state officials over a policy barring changes in sexes originally recorded on birth certificates are closer to potential courtroom proceedings in a complaint they filed more than a year ago.A trial date has not yet been set and wont take place this year, but a federal judge in Columbus this month denied state officials motion to dismiss the suit, allowing the case to move forward.U.S. District Judge Michael H.
