Come and experience the history and beauty of this Oklahoma treasure, the Harn Homestead. Their mission is to preserve the historic homestead of Mr. William Fremont Harn and to educate the public about the territorial years of Oklahoma. They offer a unique hands-on and minds-on experience that allows visitors to step back in time and share in the daily life of a territorial farm family. From the one-room schoolhouse to the Victorian home, the Harn Homestead captures the spirit of the brave men, women, and children who settled in this state. When you visit, you can take a paid tour of the Harn House, usually scheduled for the hour or half-hour closest to your arrival time. You can also explore five other historic buildings and the large Event Barn on your own throughout the day. While the Farmhouse building has limited hands-on activities, a small gift shop is in the main office.

The Norman Music Festival sounds like an incredible event. It's hard to believe that it started as just a one-day event with a few bands and has grown into a massive three-day festival with over 60 artists. They feature talent from many genres and have indoor and outdoor venues. And the fact that it's still free is fantastic. It's great they have such dedicated VIPs and sponsors to make it all possible.

Explore the music and cultural significance of the banjo, America's beloved instrument, at the renowned American Banjo Museum, where they dedicate and safeguard the banjo's vibrant history, dynamic essence, and limitless musical possibilities. The museum has an impressive collection of banjos available for public viewing, boasting over 400 instruments, films, recordings, instructional materials, printed music, ephemera, and memorabilia worldwide. The galleries feature various types of banjos, including primitive ones made by enslaved Africans, minstrel-age instruments from the mid-19th century, Classic Era banjos from the late 1800s and early 1900s, and post-WWII banjos used in bluegrass, folk, and world music.
