Formerly known as the Arch Street Opera House, the Trocadero Theatre has a rich history. Built in 1870, this entertainment venue has hosted musical comedies, vaudeville and burlesque shows, as well as an art house cinema and fine arts. Planned by William Penn during the late 17th century, Franklin Square is one of the five original open-space parks in Philadelphia. According to local legend, this park is where Benjamin Franklin conducted his famous "kite and key" lightening experiment.
