Learn about the natural world at the Wagner Free Institute of Science, established in 1855 by William Wagner. Wagner created this natural history museum as a way to offer free educational courses to the public. Today, the Institute continues to offer free science courses as well as public access to their library, lecture hall and museum.
Take a walk along the waterfront at Penn’s Landing and you may find some of the best shows and entertainment in the city, from Screening Under the Stars to the Olympic-sized RiverRink. This landmark site provides a perfect music and festival venue that hosts several concerts and performances throughout the year.
Take advantage of the University City Swim Club during the summer months. This private swim club is open to prospective members—application is easy! Enjoy water recreation and fun in the largest, cleanest pools in the city. Choose from four pools: a lap pool, a diving pool, a large, wide pool and a kiddie pool.
Fairmount Park has gorgeous sights that will take your breath away, making it a perfect backdrop for any romantic evening out. As you admire the beauty of this enormous park, be sure to make your way towards Fairmount Park’s Whispering Benches in West Park. One person sits on the stone bench in the curve of the Smith Memorial Arch while the other sits on the bench across the street. Whisper into the monument to have your message carried to your date!
