Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! You’re not in the Land of Oz, you’re entering the World of the Philadelphia Zoo. The first zoo in the United States, the Philadelphia Zoo remains one of the premier zoos in the world especially for endangered animals. See everything from big cats and primates to exotic birds and reptiles throughout the exhibits and attractions here.
Take a photo with one of the country’s founding fathers! No trip to Philadelphia is complete without seeing the Benjamin Franklin National Memorial, located in the Franklin Institute’s rotunda. This Pennsylvanian landmark and attraction honors Benjamin Franklin, Philadelphia’s most famous citizen, with a colossal 20-foot-tall statue made of white marble.
You may need a day to explore the entire 130 miles of the Schuylkill River Trail in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Or, you may choose to conquer sections of this multipurpose recreation trail one at a time. The Schuylkill River Trail in Philadelphia runs parallel to Kelly Drive for almost 10 miles, providing a smooth surface for walking, running, cycling and rollerblading.
Probably the worst kept, best-kept secret in Philly is the Rocky Statue outside of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Snap a photo of yourself raising your own fists in victory in front of Rocky—after you challenge yourself to the same iconic East Entrance Stairs he ran up during the movie.
