One of the oldest centers of science education and development in the country, the Franklin Institute provides a variety of permanent and traveling exhibits that are sure to appeal to people of all ages and interests—from a giant walk-through heart to the interactive KidScience exhibit.
Spend time exploring Wissahickon Valley Park’s more than 50 miles of trails that crisscross throughout the Delaware Valley. The Wissahickon Valley Trail is one of the most popular recreation trails for hiking and running, although you will see bikers and horseback riders as you cover the seven mile greenway.
Probably the worst kept, best-kept secret in Philly is the Rocky Statue outside of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Snap a photo of yourself raising your own fists in victory in front of Rocky—after you challenge yourself to the same iconic East Entrance Stairs he ran up during the movie.
Formerly known as the Arch Street Opera House, the Trocadero Theatre has a rich history. Built in 1870, this entertainment venue has hosted musical comedies, vaudeville and burlesque shows, as well as an art house cinema and fine arts. Currently, this theater serves as a concert hall and dance club with a variety of popular national bands performing and recording at this venue.
