For over 35 years, the African American Museum in Philadelphia has been honoring the history, art and culture of African Americans. Planned by William Penn during the late 17th century, Franklin Square is one of the five original open-space parks in Philadelphia. According to local legend, this park is where Benjamin Franklin conducted his famous "kite and key" lightening experiment. This square is dedicated to outdoor fun, with a carousel, mini golf course, fountain and playground located on the premises.
