Things To Do in El Paso, TX

Plaza TheatrePlaza Theatre

Walk into magical theatrical history and glamour galore at the Plaza Theatre, a National Historic Building of Significance built in 1930 and restored to its original atmospheric theatre splendor in 2006, conveniently located in Downtown El Paso and a brief walk from the Judson F. Williams Convention Center and the Abraham Chavez Theatre. The Plaza is built with Spanish Colonial Revival architecture and features intricately painted ceilings, mosaic-tiled floors, decorative metal railings and antique furniture, conveying the illusion that viewers are seated outdoors in a Spanish courtyard. In addition to the 2,050-seat Performance Hall, the Plaza Theatre features the 200-seat Philanthropy Theatre and the Alcantar Sky Garden, a delightful rental venue.

Hueco Tanks State Park & Historic SiteHueco Tanks State Park & Historic Site

Journey with an open heart to discover what makes the desert a sacred beautiful sanctuary as it hides a well of history and lore by jaunting out to Hueco Tanks State Park where for thousands of years people trekked to these rock hills for the rainwater pooled in natural rock basins, huecos (“whey-coes”). Visitors today marvel at the imagery left by ancient people and hike, rock climb, bird watch, study nature and history, picnic and stargaze.  Visitors can take both guided and self-guided tours to view rock imagery including a stop by their interpretive center in a historic ranch house to learn about the park and its history. The park store at headquarters sells gifts and other unique items including apparel wear and classic scenes of the area. Hueco Tanks is mainly a day-use park with 20 campsites and reserve permits are a must.

Lone Star Golf ClubLone Star Golf Club

Lone Star Golf Club is the best place to play or practice. A fully lit driving range and two lighted chipping/putting greens, allow you to practice day or night. A classic, traditional style golf course, with tree lined fairways, appearing flat in terrain, but with subtle breaks in the greens and strategically placed sandtraps testing even the best players.
