The Hidalgo County Veterans War Memorial is a tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam. The Veterans War Memorial of Texas is constructing a black granite spire 105 feet tall, known as the "American Spire of Honor." This monumental structure represents honor, respect, and gratitude for all American military men and women who sacrificed their lives in this Nation's wars and conflicts. The "American Spire of Honor" is intended to serve as a reminder that freedom comes at a significant cost and to showcase the unwavering commitment of Americans to the values of freedom and liberty for all.
