The Caracara Trails project is an ambitious plan to create a 428-mile trail network in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, Texas. This project aims to connect the region's natural, cultural, and historical resources to foster a more unified regional identity. Its primary goal is to promote healthier lifestyles and create a sense of community pride among residents. The Lower Rio Grande Valley Active Transportation and Tourism Plan includes a trail network to boost the local community's economic development. The trail network targets the growing "active tourism" market, which promotes healthy living and physical activity to create job opportunities and support small business activity.
