The Weslaco Museum was established to preserve, exhibit, and raise awareness about the history, cultural arts, and traditions of Weslaco, Texas, and the surrounding regions. This collection was the foundation for a published book celebrating the City's 50th anniversary. The Chamber of Commerce organized this event to showcase the fruits and vegetables grown in the Rio Grande Valley. Residents created and modeled clothing from local fruits, vegetables, and flowers.
