Pocahontas State Park is located about 20 miles from downtown Richmond in Chesterfield County. It offers hiking, biking and bridle trails. You'll find five miles of hiking trails around Beaver Lake, a five mile bicycle trail as well as a recreation trail accessible to people with disabilities. Also, numerous trails are available to hikers and cyclists that wind through the surrounding woodlands. Additionally, there are approximately 10 miles of bridle trails. Mountain bikers will enjoy the single-track mountain bike trails that range from easy to expert levels.

The Children's Museum of Virginia offers entertaining fun for all ages. While the focus of many of the exhibits and attractions are geared toward educating kids about the arts and sciences, bigger kids (including mom and dad) will no doubt enjoy experiencing the various activities that the venue offers. Some of the many highlights include interactive exhibits about paleontology, dental hygiene, nutrition, art, music, communications technology, sculpture and much more. For more interactive fun, the little ones will jump at the chance to get on board the kid-sized submarine, lobster boat and space shuttle. And even the smaller children won't be left out, as there is an excellent hands-on section for toddlers.

This charming venue offers light lunch menu items but the real focus here is having the experience of enjoying some afternoon tea. The basic tea service includes jam, and lemon or raspberry curd, plus a pot of tea. Other services include scones, cakes and other sweets like fruit and finger sandwiches. You can almost feel the historical heaviness when you visit Fort Norfolk, which was the last surviving fort from the Revolutionary War. This site was also highly significant during the Civil War because it changed hands twice and supplied Confederate ammunition during the Merrimac-Monitor battle.
