A romantic date doesn't have to be elaborate. Sometimes, a stroll in the park and a relaxing picnic is the perfect way for the two of you to focus on each other while enjoying Birmingham's natural beauty. A great place to do that is Vulcan Park. The site's focal point is the largest cast-iron statue in the world and it was created for the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. There are activities for kids and families, but the park is lush and expansive enough for you two to find a quiet out-of-the-way spot to enjoy each other's company.
If the kids get easily bored with just one activity, go to a place where there are several fun attractions for them to choose from. That place is the Trussville Playstation. This incredibly diverse facility is a family-fun dream come true. Featuring activities like go-karting, miniature golf, video games, skating, a two level laser tag facility, and a large batting cage – the kids won't know where to start their afternoon of fun. There is a dress code that is enforced for kids 7 years of age and older as well as for non-participating adults.
The many aspects of science come to life in a truly fun and interactive way at Birmingham's McWane Science Center. Plenty of interactive exhibits encourage visitors to reach out and touch while offering a close-up view of some of the world's most fascinating scientific principles. The museum houses an amazing collection of dinosaur fossils, an aquarium filled with colorful fish, and a multi-tiered playground. And don't forget to check out a science-themed or Hollywood hit feature at the center's IMAX theater.
