The facility proudly features one of the most extensive collections in the southeast. When you walk in, you'll be struck by the incredible range of artistic expression that is represented by the more than 24,000 objects. Learn about Asian, European, African, pre-Columbian and Native American traditions by taking in each group's respective artistic expressions rendered in a variety of mediums.

A romantic date doesn't have to be elaborate. Sometimes, a stroll in the park and a relaxing picnic is the perfect way for the two of you to focus on each other while enjoying Birmingham's natural beauty. A great place to do that is Vulcan Park. The site's focal point is the largest cast-iron statue in the world and it was created for the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. Located in western Blount County, it contains some of the most massive and visually arresting underground formations in the state. If you visit during the summer, you can even go for a dip in the swimming pool and enjoy a ride on the miniature train. Year-round camping is available.
