Grab your bike helmet and make sure that your wheels have enough air in them because the Perimeter Cycling El Tour de Tucson is gearing up for another run. The event attracts over 9,000 cyclists of every skill level and has been nationally recognized as one of the top three fundraising rides in the country as well as one of the premier organized rides in the U.S. The proceeds help benefit the University Medical Center in Tucson.
Previously held the Saturday before Thanksgiving, but due to COVID-19 the 2020 event has been postponed until Apirl 10, 2021. Check their website for further updates.
The world's largest treasure hunt happens every late January into early February at JOGS Tucson Gem & Jewelry Show. Vendors, collectors and experts from all around the world convene for the big show, and the depth and breadth of the show is so big, it is not confined to simply one location. Depending on the number of participating satellite locations, the show comprises nearly 40 sites around town that include giant white tents, hotels, resorts and exhibit halls. The show is open to the public, so if you are in the market for anything from those coveted diamond earrings to a granite set of bookends, chances are you'll find it at the rock show that really rocks!
La Fiesta de los Vaqueros Tucson Rodeo is Spanish for "the festival of the cowboys," and the event held every February in Tucson is as spicy and exciting as its name. Come and see the best cowboys and cowgirls demonstrate their skills at bareback riding, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping and bull riding, just to name a few. Plus, there's always great food and live music, so get your boots on and get ready to two-step over to the rodeo!
Due to COVID-19 the Rodeo is scheduled to be back in 2022, February 19-27. Extraordinary skills, explosive action and plenty of courage. That’s what rodeo is all about! It’s non-stop action with bull riding, bareback and saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, team and tie-down. Cowgirls take the reins in barrel racing. A great time to join the excitement!
Come and celebrate the harvest at Peach Mania held at Apple Annie's. The event is held at the peak of the peach harvest season from mid-July through mid-August. The festival features such activities as peach picking and sampling, as well as sales of peach pies, jams, salsas, and more. The event is held on the weekends between the aforementioned times, and welcomes you and your family to come and enjoy some sweet country hospitality.
