While The Mexican Museum's collection is relatively small, it does make up for its lack of size with its breadth of history. The New Conservatory Theatre Center was established in 1981 and is a highly-respected performing arts complex that houses three separate, but fully-equipped theaters that range in size from an intimate 50 seats to a more spacious 132 seats. There is also a video studio and various classes designed to develop the talents of current and future thespians. There are many traditions to be celebrated in San Francisco. One of the most iconic is taking a ride on the city's cable cars. They were first put into use in 1873 as a means of offering transportation for citizens who needed a respite from walking up the steep hills in the city.
