The men and women who serve on our military forces always deserve special recognition for their hard work and diligent sacrifices. San Francisco goes a step further to celebrate their efforts with Fleet Week, held every October. Families of those currently serving as well as veterans and their families are sure to enjoy the events of Fleet Week that include such attractions as an air show by the Blue Angels, Team Oracle, and the Air Force's F-16 Demonstration Team. Other events that are part of the festival include a Marine Band concert, ship tours, a fireworks display, and a parade of ships.

For a chance to take the family out and have some fun in the California sun, there's no better destination in San Francisco than Crissy Field. While this is a beautiful and relaxing place, it also offers stunning views from nearly every vantage point. There is beach access here, too, so the kids will love to romp on the seashore while playing in the waves. This park is within the confines of the Golden Gate National Park, and Crissy Field is 100 acres of California shoreline that is a favorite of joggers, walkers, cyclists and anyone who loves the outdoors. The Cartoon Art Museum is virtually guaranteed to put a smile on your face as you walk through it and see the nearly 6,000 original items housed in this fascinating facility. The museum received the support of Charles M. Schultz, the creator of "Peanuts," and it was with that impressive blessing that the museum transitioned from a mere idea to becoming the only collection of its kind west of the Mississippi. Located in Yerba Buena Gardens in the city's art center, this popular venue attracts cartoon and comic lovers from all over the world. In addition to the major exhibitions held yearly, the museum also features the very popular bookstore that features several unique items for sale.

The Yerba Buena Ice Skating and Bowling Center offers more than just your average alleys and pins. This venue has been consistently rated as a favorite of San Francisco bowlers for several years, and the state of the art bowling facility is also home to a year-round ice skating rink. So whether you are out for strikes or figure eights, you'll find an excellent afternoon of recreational sports fun at the Yerba Buena Ice Skating and Bowling Center.
