Boating and water recreation enthusiasts enjoy their time on the water when they light out on the Farmington River. The river is easily accessible from the road starting below Goodwin Dam in Heartland, Connecticut. Boaters enjoy seasonal excursions, with the best being in the late spring and early summer.

The kids will love exploring the world of art that is presented at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art. Multimedia pieces, paintings and various collections feature the best of European art as well as several visually challenging works that range from the modern to the impressionistic. One of Hartford’s premier cultural events is the Caribbean and Jerk Festival. It has been held every August for the past seven years and features both the upper and lower areas of Mortensen Riverfront Plaza transformed into a Caribbean village. The whole family will enjoy the variety of music and dance performances as well as authentic Caribbean fare offered by more than 25 vendors.
