The Tampa Bay Rays are a Major League Baseball team based in St. Petersburg and are a member of the Eastern Division of MLB's American League. In 2008 they won their first division title and won the pennant. Since 2007 the sports team has had four straight winning seasons and three playoff appearances. They play their home games at Tropicana Field.

The Salvador Dali Museum is a worthwhile day trip to St. Petersburg from Tampa. The museum holds the largest Dali collection outside of Spain. Brooker Creek is one of the top parks in the St. Petersburg area. Visitors truly enjoy experiencing wildlife like tortoises, wild turkey, white-tailed deer and river otters in their natural environments. Also, the sprawling trails at the park will challenge even the most in-shape walkers and runners.
