Luckily, these places were saved and moved to this location which features two dozen structures that include a store, a church, a school, an outhouse and several private residences from yesteryear that are still very much a part of today.

The Salvador Dali Museum is a worthwhile day trip to St. Petersburg from Tampa. The museum holds the largest Dali collection outside of Spain. You'll be astonished to see the huge giant canvases painted with colorful fantastical dream like imagery, straight from the famous artist's head. This trailblazing Spanish surrealist definitely had a unique way of viewing the world, and his one-of-a-kind viewpoints make up the many visually stunning exhibits you'll find here. When you and your date stroll from one exhibit to another, you will be seeing pieces that make up the world's most extensive collection of Dali's work.

Many say that the only way to change the future is to learn from our past mistakes, and that is exactly what the Florida Holocaust Museum aims to do. Instead of focusing on past transgressions and the severity and cruelty of what went on, the museum aims to underscore the spirit of perseverance and quest for freedom that these dramatic exhibits illustrate. There are various historical papers, photographs, and other objects that tell this solemn story. Perhaps the most sobering exhibit is an actual boxcar that shuttled prisoners to the concentration camps.
