Nature's beauty is everywhere in St. Petersburg, especially under the area's signature palm trees. Get a closer look at these magnificent specimens of greenery when you visit the Gizella Kopsick Palm Arboretum. Your senses will be treated to many exotic and native Florida palms and cycads all presented in a truly stunning fashion. You will be amazed at some of these palms that are too large for a conventional yard. Also, several rare and exotic palm trees can be found here that serve as the perfect setting for your romantic time together.
The Museum of Fine Arts houses an incredibly far-reaching collection of art from around the world that spans several historical and artistic eras. You'll encounter over 18,000 works here, and these include some of the world's most seminal creations by such artists as Monet, Renoir, O'Keeffe, Bellows and Hassaam. Additionally, you'll see some of the most compelling exhibits that illustrate Greek, Egyptian, Asian, African, pre-Columbian, and Native American art. There's also a great cafe and gift shop that perfectly round out your visit.
Want to spend a day at the beach without fighting the crowds? Then make Sand Key Park your destination for the day. These relatively quiet beach surroundings are as beautiful as they are relaxing. Beachcombers, surfers, and sun worshipers all enjoy the natural amenities of Sand Key, but the man-made amenities like picnic tables, restrooms and lifeguard stations are quite nice, as well.
There's no doubt that the kids definitely love the beach. But when the whole family needs a little break from the sun to cool off, head to the Pier Aquarium for a fun and educational place to seek shelter from the sun. This particular pier attracts over two million visitors a year and is actually an iconic landmark with its inverted pyramid shape that cuts into the Tampa Bay skyline. The aquarium continues it's impressive 23-year tradition of educating visitors about the importance of sustaining our marine wildlife through engaging exhibits and attractions. Marvel at the nearly 400 creatures who inhabit these incredible 17 tanks.
