If you feel the need for speed, then make a beeline to the Festivals of Speed that is held every February in St. Petersburg. This revved-up three-day festival presents the finest in jets, planes, helicopters, yachts, motorcycles and cars that are all designed to raise adrenaline levels. In addition to these luxurious exhibitions, gourmet foods and premium cocktails add an even higher level of distinctive flavor to the fast-paced proceedings.
The Museum of Fine Arts houses an incredibly far-reaching collection of art from around the world that spans several historical and artistic eras. You'll encounter over 18,000 works here, and these include some of the world's most seminal creations by such artists as Monet, Renoir, O'Keeffe, Bellows and Hassaam. Additionally, you'll see some of the most compelling exhibits that illustrate Greek, Egyptian, Asian, African, pre-Columbian, and Native American art. There's also a great cafe and gift shop that perfectly round out your visit.
Nature lovers will appreciate the unique natural desolation that makes Anclote Key so special. This island off the coast of Tarpon Springs is a four-mile stretch of Florida beach that has not been overdeveloped or commercialized and still retains its stunning natural beauty. Offering such natural attractions as several different types of bird species, the island is open for day use and on the north end you'll find an excellent place to enjoy overnight camping. You can get to this outdoor paradise courtesy of a 10-minute boat ride from the mainland.
