Novice bikers and hikers better their technique while on one of Central Iowa Trails. There are 4 recreation trails to choose from that will take you on a journey of tight twists around lush woodlands in the heart of the capital city. You'll appreciate the challenging trails to hike or ride your bike on that give you a sense of accomplishment when you've completed the trail.  Choose From 4 Trails: Center Trails, Sycamore Trails, Seven Oaks Trails, Summerset/Banner Lakes Trails. 

"Tour. Taste. Shop" at the Summerset Winery. You'll enjoy the one hour tour of the winery and cellar, the wine presentation and your trip to the wine tasting bar. The winery grounds are exquisite and the list of wine awards long. Spend a day in the Iowa wine country and leave with souvenir wines from the gift shop.

See the buffalo roam at the Prairie Learning Center, gateway to the Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge. Discover over 5,000 acres of scenic prairie tallgrass, home to herds of buffalo, pheasants as well as native wildflowers and plant life. Visit the world-class 13, 000-square-foot nature center and the Prairie Point Bookstore for memorable souvenirs of your outdoor adventure.

Set sail for the skies at The National Balloon Museum located minutes outside of Des Moines. Six thousand visitors come to the museum attraction annually to see high-flying exhibits like the Fantasia Balloon, Hot Air Airship, the Stone Family Balloons and learn about over 200 years of ballooning history.
