Raise a glass at Oktoberfest, the popular festival turns downtown Des Moines into the largest bar in the world. Festival goers drink lots and lots of ice cold German beer, eat German food and check out bier maidens and dance a lot of polka! Come celebrate a beery good time!
Public Art is on tour at The Pappajohn Sculpture Park located in Des Moines. Discover sculptures by Willem de Kooning and Louise Bourgeois as well as other world-renowned sculptures valued at more than forty million dollars. The public donation by Mr. and Ms. Pappajohn is the largest in the state's history.
Enjoy family time together at the Brenton Skating Plaza, located on the Principal Riverwalk on the Des Moines River waterfront. Families spend hours on the outdoor ice rink during the winter, and attend concerts and other entertainment attractions during the summer when the rink becomes an event center.
Go on an Australian Adventure at the Blank Park Zoo located in Des Moines, and enjoy a Day Down Under with black swans and emu's. Journey the 22-acre naturalist animal Kingdom to see 104 different furry friends, and see wild exhibits and attractions like the prehistoric dinosaurs at the ZooPlex.
