The Phoenix Jazz Club has thrived like its namesake since 1888. Located in the corner of downtown, the Phoenix was once a shady hotel, rumored to be more of a bordello and complete with a speakeasy saloon. Nowadays, this jazz club is known for its classy, relaxed nightlife atmosphere and is a great place to listen to the smooth tunes of a live band with friends.

Let your wild things meet the wild things at the Kansas City Zoo. Located in Swope Park, this zoo features five main sections—Africa, Australia, Tiger Trail, KidZone and The Valley—as well as several special exhibitions and attractions, rides and shows. Run by Union Station Kansas City, the Kansas City Museum can be found at the breathtaking Corinthian Hall. Also known as the R.A. Long House, this 3-acre complex is dedicated to displays about local history and natural science. See collections of local artifacts or look to the heavens in the 50-seat planetarium.
