The challenges that the earliest settlers of the area faced are dramatically presented in an amazingly authentic manner that does not only illustrate their plight, but brings that history alive as it connects us to the present day.

Taking a hike is always fun, but it's even more of an adventure when the terrain that you're exploring is as picturesque as the Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park. The trails are as inviting as the pine-oak-hickory forest in which they lie, and several naturalists are available by appointment to guide you through your trek. The park also offers special programs for students and various school groups, as well as day camps and other special events and attractions.

If the angler in you is ready to leave the workweek behind and start relaxing by catching some fish, Barron's Landing and Marina is the perfect place to escape. A great, friendly staff will make your time behind the fishing rod as stress-free as possible. It's your choice to either fish in the marina, where reeling in large bass is a frequent occurrence, or you can rent a Jon boat for only $40 and head out on your own. Either way, a great fishing excursion is only a few minutes away!
