Paramount's Carowinds Water and Theme Park manages to pack an incredible variety of fun activities over its 105 acres that offer a little something for everyone. Their name combines "Carolina" and "winds" to perfectly describe a place that celebrates the history and culture of the Carolinas. The Levine Museum of the New South encourages a hands-on approach to experiencing their facility. Several interactive exhibits and experiences offer visitors a chance to learn about Southern history from the days of the Civil War in a truly memorable and fun way. You can actually try on clothing from the post-Civil War era up to the present day, get up close to various items from that bygone era, or even record your own radio show. Whether you choose just one of these or undertake them all, you'll learn about some of the South's most essential historical moments and have lots of fun doing it.

Alexander Michael's, or "Al Mike's" as it's affectionately known, is one of those special nightlife hangouts where you'll feel right at home the minute you set foot in the door. The low-key atmosphere and laid-back attitude of its patrons will ensure that your first visit won't be your last. There's a tasty menu available that features burgers, nachos and fried pickles, among many other delectable choices. And even though the kitchen closes early, the bar is open late, and that alone is reason enough to stay late at Al Mike's.
