The US National Whitewater Center gives you that much-needed shot of adrenaline with their variety of outdoor adventures and attractions like rafting, kayaking, and paddling. If you prefer to stay dry, there's more outdoor adventures available like rock climbing, mountain biking and climbing your way around various rope courses. You'll definitely work up an appetite with all this brisk activity, so stop in for one of the healthy menu items at the River's Edge Bar and Grill that's on the premises and offers a great place to refuel before continuing your adventures.
Alexander Michael's, or "Al Mike's" as it's affectionately known, is one of those special nightlife hangouts where you'll feel right at home the minute you set foot in the door. The low-key atmosphere and laid-back attitude of its patrons will ensure that your first visit won't be your last. There's a tasty menu available that features burgers, nachos and fried pickles, among many other delectable choices. And even though the kitchen closes early, the bar is open late, and that alone is reason enough to stay late at Al Mike's.
Let your love of nature take flight at the Wing Haven Foundation Gardens and Bird Sanctuary. This awe-inspiring garden was built back in the late 1920s and it continues to provide solace and comfort through its incredible variety of foliage that comprises these lush gardens. You'll also find various rare and regional bird species, so don't forget to bring your binoculars. Guided tours through this outdoor oasis are available every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings.
