Enjoy a variety of live performances–theatre, music and dance–as well as a variety of films–independent, foreign and family-friendly–at the South Orange Performing Arts Center. One of the premier entertainment and performing arts centers in the region, SOPAC also hosts a wide range of community events and educational programs for every age bracket.

Walk the halls where the first president, George Washington, once roamed. The Hermitage House, a National Historic Landmark and museum, consists of a preserved and restored stone house from 1763. This lovely home features several stunning Gothic Revival architectural details, from the diamond-paned windows to the high Tudor arches and gabled roof, as well as a collection of period furniture, clothing, accessories and other attractions on display.

Rock the jukebox over at McGovern’s Tavern. A nightlife favorite of Rutgers Law School students, this traditional Irish pub offers your typical fare as far as food and drinks go but also incorporates fun, friendly events each week. Join in for weekly Monday Night Football or Trivia Tuesday, as well as special performances.

You can never go wrong with a visit to Six Flags Great Adventure. In addition to the main amusement park, you can access the Wild Safari animal park and the Hurricane Harbor animal park inside the complex. All ages can indulge in a day of thrills, chills, entertainment and adventure!
