Santa Fe is unquestionably a celebration of various cultures, and these different influences can be seen in the various works of pottery at Jackalope Pottery. Choose from kachinas and pinon in one building and weathered cedar, terra cotta and kiva fireplaces in another. Jackalope Pottery's staff and management works hard to consistently provide an interesting and ever-changing inventory, and that is one of the many reasons why this is a favorite stop for both locals and visitors who want to take home a little piece of Santa Fe's uniqueness.
Santa Fe's highly appealing outdoor amenities are celebrated year-round at Hyde Memorial State Park. You'll find several excellent spots to enjoy a picnic or just relax as you toss the frisbee around with the kids and enjoy the scenery. There's also more fun to be had on the hiking trails that offer still another chance to get closer to the amazing natural beauty of the park. Camping is another attraction, as the park offers 350 acres of woods and meadows. Plus, the park is located just three miles south of the Santa Fe Ski area which makes it a great stop during ski season.
There's nothing like seeing a performance at The Lensic, Santa Fe's Performing Arts Center. Some of the world's finest dancers, actors and musicians can be regularly found on this entertainment venue's classically-styled stage. After extensive restoration, the center re-opened its doors in 2001, and has since continued the tradition of presenting an impressive schedule of must-see performances that have continued to delight audiences of all ages.
The Museum of Contemporary Native Arts prides itself in presenting "Indian art through Indian eyes." To rightfully accomplish that mission, this museum presents a dazzling collection of artwork by artists who have attended or taught at the College of Santa Fe's Museum of Contemporary Native Arts. The resulting collection that is housed here adds up to a staggering 6,500 original pieces created by over 3,000 artists.
