The Dale Ball Trails make up a 30-mile network of single-track routes that are used by both hikers and mountain bikers. These recreation trails wind through stands of pinon and juniper in the foothills. The trail can be accessed by Sierra del Norte and Cerro Gorder at its intersection of Canyon Road. This is an intricate set of trails, and the central portion is recommended only for highly experienced riders.

La Vega Trail begins at the Santa Fe Ski Basin and is situated in a beautiful valley with a stream that runs through it. It is a relatively easy hike and offers a great view of Santa Fe Baldy. The recreation trail is also marked by markers which make this day hike easy to find and follow along. Fellow hikers agree that the best time to enjoy this trail is spring to fall, depending on the weather.

Nambe Lake Trail is found in a glacial valley between Lake Peak and Santa Fe Baldy. The hiking and recreation trail is a total of six miles at an elevation of 1,900 feet. This day hike is considered strenuous so make sure that you have some durable, comfortable shoes as well as water and other necessities.

Raven's Ridge is another favorite recreation trail that is not too heavily traveled. It offers excellent views of the Santa Fe Baldy. The trail begins at the Winsor trailhead in the Santa Fe ski area parking lot and then goes on to reach the wilderness boundary fence. Once you get to that point, the trail goes on to just outside of the fence.

The Santa Fe Baldy is one of a line of high peaks along the divide between the Rio Grande and Pecos River drainages. Its rounded, "bald" appearance is likely to have inspired its name. This hiking trail stretches out 14 miles and is considered a strenuous trek. It should take a day or perhaps an overnight stay to complete it and its top elevation of 12,622 feet only adds to the trail's difficulty.

A very popular bike trail in Santa Fe is Winsor Trail that provides a range of scenery and terrain. The trail has become known for its impressive downhill joyride. There are also a few steep ascents which makes this recreation trail somewhat trying but not impossible. This is an excellent course for the intermediate and pro rider, but beginners of the sport need to use extra caution.
