There are museums, and then there are "living museums" that the kids (and mom and dad) will surely find interesting. El Rancho de las Golondrinas is such a place. See attractions like original colonial buildings on this site that date back to the early 18th century as well as other buildings that have been reconstructed to reflect the style of that time period. The buildings and other items presented here tell the fascinating story of the early settlement of New Mexico. The museum is closed from November through March.

The Plaza was once considered the "Central Park" of the city many years ago. Today, this beautiful area with its inviting trees, grass, benches and monuments is still a vital hub of activity. The Plaza is the core of old Santa Fe as it features several attractions, restaurants and shops in the plaza and in the surrounding streets. This site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is usually the site for many of the city's high-profile events.

Kokopelli Rafting Adventures offers an excellent day trip through the Rio Chama's White Rock Canyon on Class II and Class III rapids, as well as a hike through Bandelier National Monument. Be ready for some intense physical exercise on your water sports excursion. The spirited, high-adventure of it all makes it well-worth it.
