Nature lovers will feel right at home outdoors in the expansive Ohio and Erie Canalway. This National Heritage Area earned its designated title in 1996 because of its role in helping Ohio and our nation grow. Its status and recognition was to primarily preserve and celebrate the rails, trails, landscapes, towns and sites that all grew along the first 110 miles of the canal that sparked growth for not only Ohio, but for the entire nation. Among these beautifully landscaped 110 miles you'll find the Towpath Trail, America's Byway, the Cuyahoga Scenic Railroad and various county park districts.

County fairs always seem to bring out the best in people. That tradition still holds true at the Cuyahoga County Fair held every August. The fact that the fair has been held every year for the past 115 years speaks volumes about its tradition and popularity. Check out the farm animals in competition but don't forget to treat yourself to the fried cheese and other tasty snacks. More than twenty midway rides, 100 food vendors, country music and a demolition derby all make this a must-attend festival!

Climb aboard one of the country's most significant pieces of history when you visit the USS Cod Memorial. This is a World War II era GATO class fleet submarine that allows visitors to explore history from a truly deeper perspective. The USS Cod is listed as a National Historic Landmark and is docked in Cleveland. Visitors not only have the opportunity to tour this historically significant vessel, but also can learn more about it through a handful of interesting exhibits as well as the various materials that are available in the souvenir and gift shop.
