Part of Pittsburgh’s Cultural District, Theater Square is home to some of the best entertainment in the Steel City. The 330,000-square-foot complex contains the Backstage Bar, Café Zao, Cabaret at Theater Square, WQED FM and biggest parking garage in the area, as well as a box office where you can purchase tickets for many surrounding theaters.
When the weather starts to get cold, lace up your skates and head over to the Rink at PPG Place. Open to the public, this ice skating rink is the perfect place to show off your talent. First time skater? Never fear. The rink has room for skaters of all skill levels.
Paddle out onto the water at one of Kayak Pittsburgh’s three convenient locations: downtown, Lake Elizabeth and North Park. Admire the architecture or try to spot urban wildlife Downtown; bring the whole family out to the shallow Lake Elizabeth, or test the water as the newly opened North Park. Beginners to water sports and recreation are welcome!
You may have to drive a bit to get to the Big Butler Fair, but the trip is worth it. One of the largest and best festivals in Western Pennsylvania, Big Butler is a chance to enjoy fireworks, the midway, games, demolition derbies, concerts and truck pulls that are not typically seen in Pittsburgh.
