Travel back in time at the Greater Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival. Featuring different themes each weekend they are open, this festival strives to provide a unique experience each visit. Whether you are there to meander through the artisan’s marketplace, watch a jousting tournament or slay a dragon, there are plenty of activities for people of all ages and walks of life.
Listen to the majestic music of the Squonk Opera, accompanied by the visual art and acting elements. This contemporary opera has grown from a group of 10-20 artists creating post-industrial performances in a Pittsburgh junkyard to an internationally known touring company. You may have seen their appearance on the popular TV show, America’s Got Talent.
Sports fans, show your support for the Pittsburgh Steelers when you enter Steeler Nation! This professional football team has won more Super Bowl titles than any other AFC or NFC team and shares a record for the most Super Bowl appearances with the Dallas Cowboys, with whom they also share a rivalry.
Escape the noise of the city and spend some time outdoors at Frick Park. Stretching from Point Breeze down to the Monongahela River, this woodland park offers extensive trails, a large bird population, tennis courts, baseball fields and the only public lawn bowling green in Pennsylvania. If you are visiting during the winter, bring your sled to take advantage of the steep hills.
