Get active at Highland Park. Located in the Highland Park neighborhood, the municipal park of the same name offers a variety of outdoor activities for people of all ages during all seasons. Visit the Pittsburgh Zoo to see the wildlife, learn about the importance of drinking water at the reservoirs, climb up Mount Bigelow or take advantage of the two sand volley ball courts, tennis courts, walking trails, and playgrounds.
You may have to drive a bit to get to the Big Butler Fair, but the trip is worth it. One of the largest and best festivals in Western Pennsylvania, Big Butler is a chance to enjoy fireworks, the midway, games, demolition derbies, concerts and truck pulls that are not typically seen in Pittsburgh.
Sip on some of the best freshly brewed coffee or tea in town. Buena Vista Coffee can be found in Pittsburgh’s less popular Northside, in the charming Mexican War Streets. Part of the rejuvenation of the Northside, Buena Vista Coffee serves up delicious beverages and snacks in a cozy, charming atmosphere.
View the work of local visual and performance artists at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. Whether you art interested in traditional arts, such as painting and sculpture, or the modern art of photography and filmmaking, you will find the best regional artistic exchange at one of the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts’ locations.
