Built in 1889 as the Carnegie Musical Hall, the current New Hazlett Theater is not only a historical landmark but also an enthusiastic host to many local theater performances. Have your breath taken away as you travel up the Duquesne Incline. Once the main mode of transportation for Pittsburghers to get up the incredibly steep hills, nowadays the historic funicular takes guests up to the top of Mt. Washington for the best view of downtown. Children will get a kick out of the authentic car, the old photographs and artifacts in the upper station, and the ride up and down the mountain.
Paddle out onto the water at one of Kayak Pittsburgh’s three convenient locations: downtown, Lake Elizabeth and North Park. Admire the architecture or try to spot urban wildlife Downtown; bring the whole family out to the shallow Lake Elizabeth, or test the water as the newly opened North Park. Beginners to water sports and recreation are welcome!
