You may have to drive a bit to get to the Big Butler Fair, but the trip is worth it. One of the largest and best festivals in Western Pennsylvania, Big Butler is a chance to enjoy fireworks, the midway, games, demolition derbies, concerts and truck pulls that are not typically seen in Pittsburgh.
Inspire yourself with the artistic, modern performances of classic American ballets by the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. This local ballet troupe has grown since it debuted in 1970 at the Pittsburgh Playhouse. See one of the seasonal performances from October until April at its own building or catch one of the troupe's touring performances.
Be prepared for an intense hiking experience as you start the Baker Trail. The trail originally extended from Aspinwall to Cook Forest State Park but has recently been expanded to include Allegheny National Forest. This 141-mile recreation trail features nine campsites but no signs. Those interested in hiking or backpacking either sections of or the entire trail should purchase a detailed trail-guide.

Welcoming playwrights, directors and actors from all around Pittsburgh, the country and the globe, Quantum’s artists stage their elaborate creative designs in non-traditional spaces. Filled with sensory possibilities, these performances range from traditional performances with a twist to mediums that didn’t previously exist.
