Catch a show at the Rex Theater. What kind of show? That depends on what kind of entertainment you are in the mood for. See everything from a typical concert to an outrageous cabaret and peepshow. Live music options include local, regional and a few national bands playing anything from smooth jazz to rock ‘n roll—and the fully stocked bar keeps the nightlife going as well.
Spin around to Jerry’s Records where you can find some of the best record selections in the country. Find vinyls from your favorite bands as well as a good deal of million albums and 12" singles and just about as many 45s, EPs and 78s. This record lover’s paradise stocks a wide selection of music, from easy listening and jazz to rock and heavy metal.
Gardening is transformed into a contemporary art form in the Frank Curto Park’s Art Gardens of Pittsburgh. Wander among the unique, mile-long outdoor art gallery filled with instillation art created with the growing greenery. Although you may spot a few sculptures, the main medium in the Art Gardens is the plant life.
You may have to drive a bit to get to the Big Butler Fair, but the trip is worth it. One of the largest and best festivals in Western Pennsylvania, Big Butler is a chance to enjoy fireworks, the midway, games, demolition derbies, concerts and truck pulls that are not typically seen in Pittsburgh.
