Celebrate the changing season and beer! Penn Brewery Oktoberfest opens its doors to the public to share its freshest seasonal draft beers. Enjoy a good local brew as you munch on the delicious German specialties like bratwurst and sauerkraut, listen to live entertainment, meet radio show personalities, enter contests and more. Must be 21 and over for this festival.
Order a horse-drawn carriage for date nights, weddings, anniversaries, and other special events from Caustelot Farms. Or, take a spontaneous carriage ride at Station Square, where carriage services are available most Friday and Saturday evenings from May through October. Get a tour of Station Square, take a romantic Moonlight River Ride or familiarize yourself with the city on the Downtown Tour.
If you love history, art or science, you will definitely want to visit the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh. The Carnegie Institute operates the Carnegie Museums, and two of the four facilities can be found alongside the headquarters. Visit the Carnegie Museum of Art and the Museum of Natural History in the same complex, or travel a bit to see the Carnegie Science Center and the Andy Warhol Museum.
Gardening is transformed into a contemporary art form in the Frank Curto Park’s Art Gardens of Pittsburgh. Wander among the unique, mile-long outdoor art gallery filled with instillation art created with the growing greenery. Although you may spot a few sculptures, the main medium in the Art Gardens is the plant life.
