Indulge your sweet tooth at the Pennsylvania Maple Festival. This unique festival is dedicated to a northern tradition. Learn how to make maple products by tapping trees, boiling sap and making sugar cakes. You can also participate or watch the auto show and historical pageant. It may be a drive, but you are guaranteed to leave loaded with wonderful maple treats.
Part of Pittsburgh’s Cultural District, Theater Square is home to some of the best entertainment in the Steel City. The 330,000-square-foot complex contains the Backstage Bar, Café Zao, Cabaret at Theater Square, WQED FM and biggest parking garage in the area, as well as a box office where you can purchase tickets for many surrounding theaters.
Be prepared for an intense hiking experience as you start the Baker Trail. The trail originally extended from Aspinwall to Cook Forest State Park but has recently been expanded to include Allegheny National Forest. This 141-mile recreation trail features nine campsites but no signs. Those interested in hiking or backpacking either sections of or the entire trail should purchase a detailed trail-guide.
