Charleston's MOJA Festival is held every September and is a celebration that embraces the city's African and Caribbean heritage. The word "moja" is Swahili for "unity." That spirit of oneness is alive and well all throughout this family-friendly festival that not only offers an opportunity to learn about the deeply diverse African and Caribbean cultures, but you'll also be able to take in concerts, recitals, and other performances at venues throughout the city. And don't forget to sample the delicious selection of native dishes and delicacies, too.

Don't let the name fool you. Closed For Business is one of Charleston's favorite bars on the nightlife scene, not only because of it's ironic name, but because it boasts an incredible beer selection. Making a choice of what beverage you'll enjoy might be tougher than you think, as the bar features 30 draught beers, roughly 50 bottled beers, a seasonal beer menu, monthly beer menu and even beer flights! But don't worry, if beer isn't your thing, there's an equally impressive set of premium liquors and wines to choose from. A great atmosphere, a satisfying menu that features sandwiches and snacks, and a community pool table all help to ensure that Closed For Business will never find itself without a large number of customers.

Drive just a few miles north of Charleston and you'll discover a great beach hideaway at Sullivan's Island Beach. You'll marvel at how inviting and clean the area is, and you'll waste no time kicking off your shoes to stroll hand in hand with your significant other. There are also plenty of historic homes that line the dunes, as well as Sullivan's Island Lighthouse that provide an excellent, unforgettable background for your time outdoors on the beach. If you get hungry, there are plenty of great authentic Lowcountry restaurants close by, so a great meal is not far away at all.

At the Redux Contemporary Art Center, you're the star! The nonprofit organization constantly strives to foster the creativity that lives in everyone by continuously offering diverse exhibitions as well as classes and various programs that will stir the inner artist in everyone who visits. Ideally, the staff and management of the Redux would like to display everyone's work in their galleries, but whether that comes to pass or not, they are happy to offer you a place where inspiration and creativity harmoniously coexist.
