Knoxville had the honor of hosting the World's Fair in 1982. One of the most obvious reminders of that momentous event is the fact that the Sunsphere was built to complement the event and it still stands today as a great way for tourists to get a bird's eye view of the city. Visit the various levels and enjoy views of downtown, the University of Tennessee and the mountains in the distance. It's a truly breathtaking experience. Other attractions include The Candy Factory, a group of Victorian homes that house shops selling arts and crafts, and Fort Kid that is a playground featuring historically-themed rides and play areas. The celebration of the World's Fair clearly still echoes at this fun, family-friendly attraction in Knoxville. 

Cowboys and cowgirls come from all over for the chance to two step on Cotton Eyed Joe's dance floor. The club is recognized as one of the nation's top country nightclubs for good reason. There are nightly drink specials and most evenings you'll find a complimentary Tex-Mex buffet. And if your boot-scootin' skills need a little polishing up, there are classes nearly every night to help you look like a star out on the dance floor. Grab your boots and get ready for a wild time at this nightlife destination.

Peek into what life was like Appalachian style when you visit the Museum of Appalachia. More than just a museum, this Appalachian mountain village brings history to life over its impressive 70 acres. Highlights include a chapel, barns, cabins, and even a schoolhouse. You'll also see artifacts and other items like handcrafted instruments that were used to accomplish everyday tasks that we take for granted. Located less than a half hour from Knoxville, this historical excursion is worth the drive.
