Carnival Memphis
Formerly the Memphis Cotton Carnival, Carnival Memphis has been around since 1931. This annual celebration consists of a series of parties and festivals similar to Mardi Gras. During the month of June, the Carnival Memphis Association and its krewes select a King, Queen, and Royal Court to reign over the festivities, including parades and events celebrating local industries.
The Children's Museum of Memphis
Little ones will adore the Children's Museum. Entertain young children for hours with 24 permanent exhibits and attractions that range from art to transportation. Children can climb "skyscrapers," generate tornados, observe the (literal) birds and bees in natural habitats and much, much more. Special events and programs are held regularly.
Court Square Center
Take a break from the hustle and bustle of downtown at Court Square. This urban park is a small haven for those in the city. One of the original city squares, this plaza offers the shade of a pavilion, beautiful Greek statues and cooling fountains.
