Bring your wild things to see the animals at the Memphis Zoo. The zoo is home to a number of big cats, primates and other African plains mammals, as well as a variety of reptiles, farm animals and exotic creatures from all over the globe. Take the family to an animal attraction or show, such as the Sea Lions or Animals of the Night, or feed the birds at the Birds & Bees house.
Go on a water recreation adventure with Ghost River Canoe and Kayak Rentals. Follow the well-marked canoe trail in the Wolf River. This 8.5-mile trail includes many turns, beautiful cypress, wildlife sightings, a trip through Spirit Lake and the mystic Ghost Section. Located about half an hour outside of Memphis, this part of the river is great for more experienced paddlers but not recommended for beginners.
Delve into the Native American way of life at the Chucalissa Museum and Archaeological Site. At this attraction, you'll learn about the culture and traditions of the indigenous inhabitants of the Mid-South through a variety of exhibits and artifacts. Displays about contemporary Southeastern Native America and the African American cultural heritage of the Chucalissa site's landscape are also found throughout the museum.
