Bring your wild things to see the animals at the Memphis Zoo. The zoo is home to a number of big cats, primates and other African plains mammals, as well as a variety of reptiles, farm animals and exotic creatures from all over the globe. Take the family to an animal attraction or show, such as the Sea Lions or Animals of the Night, or feed the birds at the Birds & Bees house.
One of the original shops on Beale Street, A. Schwab's is an old-fashioned dry goods store that also sells voodoo paraphernalia. This shop contains every item imaginable in its football field sized building. Browse through the hundreds of unique specialty items and souvenirs.
Catch a local band playing at the Hi-Tone Cafe. Listen to rock and indie at one of the tables, or get up and get down on the dance floor. Hungry? This little nightlife venue serves up a mean pizza in addition to some great brews. Play some pool or even ping pong in between band sets.
Spend a romantic overnight at the offbeat Talbot Heirs Guesthouse. This quirky hotel is small and privately owned, with individualized, spacious suites and luxurious accommodations. Located near Beale Street, with many restaurants, theaters and entertainment venues within walking distance, Talbot Heirs offers guests a unique stay in rooms that are as original, authentic and spirited as Memphis itself.
